The surge is working in Iraq, so well that it is more dangerous to live in Chicago than to be an American Solider or Marine in Baghdad. An estimated 123 people have been killed this summer in Chicago. That is double the number of Americans killed in Baghdad over the same period.
In fact even those who critize the President and the Surge has to admit that it is working. Bob Woodward is releasing his last book on the Bush Presidency. Highly critical, yet lauding the impact that the surge of troops has brought to Iraq. Although President Bush "too often failerd to lead" those same troops.
"Violence was down so much in a few places that some U.S. soldiers were not receiving combat action badges because there was no fighting in their area,"
Of course the boys at MoveOn dot Org and The New York Times took on McCain for even suggesting the surge policy in Jan. 2007 “The presence of additional coalition forces would allow the Iraqi government to do what it cannot accomplish today on its own: impose its rule throughout the country,” McCain said at a Senate Armed Services Committee
